Here we SNOW again!

Since we didn't have class today, I thought I would post up some educational snow day entertainment. If you're snowed in and want to watch a dramatic interpretation of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart I have posted the youtube links to my page. Soon enough everyone in class will get to read this story as well as listen to our fabulous podcast....so why not see a visual as well? Check it out! Have a great weekend!

We Did It!!

I'm feeling so accomplished today! Sandra, Meredith, and myself completed our podcasts today. Today's class definitely made up for last week. I think the three of us worked well together and did a great job. For our lesson we will give an introduction to Edgar Allen Poe, listen to our podcast, and introduce a project to the class. Our podcast questions are:

  • Whats the setting and atmosphere of the story?

  • Whats your first impression of the main character?

  • Whats your initial predictions about whats going to happen through out the story?

  • What evidence suggests the narrator is a mad man.

  • Describe the grotesque Gothic elements during this section.

  • How does the man describe how he will dismember the body?

  • Where did the ringing come from?
These questions will help the students get a good grasp of the story. Afterwards we will be having a "fright fest" in class. Stay tuned for more spooky news! Muah Ha Ha!!

Podcasting-Day 3

I'm really excited about today because we will be podcasting our complete stories and posting them on our blogs! I know I was slightly discouraged last week, but I'm really pumped for today. Sandra, Meredith, and I have been discussing our lesson plan that we will be team teaching together and so far we have some great ideas. I can't wait to listen to our completed podcast.

Podcasting-Day 2

Today Sandra, Meredith and I broke up the reading that we will be doing for our podcast. I was the first person to read. I read two pages or so of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart only to find out afterwards that our podcast didn't save! I'm definitely a little frustrated because I tried really hard to speak with emphasis and not make any mistakes. I guess this is all apart of the process. It was unfortunate that we didn't have class this past Tuesday due to weather and the upcoming Tuesday isn't looking good either, but hopefully the next time we all are in the classroom we will get more accomplished than we did today.

Podcasting-Day 2

Today the computer lab is extra hot, but our spirits are high! Sandra and I are no longer a duo, but a trio! We have a new group member Meredith and I'm really looking forward to working with her. I'm not really sure what were doing in class today, but I excited to learn some new things. We handed in our solo lesson plans today. All I know is that we will be watching a movie/clip of some type on Youtube. I must say every time I leave class on Tuesday/Friday...I always leave knowing much more than when I initially walked in. I love this class.

Our First Podcast!

Today was our first day of podcasting. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but it was a lot of fun! We learned about a new site called pod-o-matic where we created our our own accounts as well as created our official introduction to our blog. After replaying the recording I thought Sandra and I sounded like children, but it actually came out really nice. During this whole process we also came up with some great ideas for a possible lesson plan to teach. Now that I've had a taste of podcasting today...I can't wait to keep working on this project!

Podcasting-Day 1

Today is our first day in the computer lab! I'm not exactly sure what to expect from podcasting since I've never done it before, but I'm really looking forward to it. From what I know Podcasting is when you speak into a microphone and work with special effects to turn it into something creative. I feel as though I might leave class a little overwhelmed today because of all the new and exciting things we'll learn from Dr. Luongo, but I can't wait to start blogging with my partner Sandra!

Podcasting Project

In class this past Tuesday Sandra and I decided to work together on the podcasting project. We will be working with Edgar Allen Poe's A Tell Tale Heart. Sandra and I are hoping to create a spooky setting by using different sound effects. I've never podcasted anything before so I'm really looking forward to getting to work! This project will definitely be beneficial for me as a student as well as a future teacher!
